Junior Music Course ( JMC ) Ages 4 - 5 Course length is 2 years...Classes are one hour per week and parent participation is required. The in-class musical experiences nuture your child's creativity. The lessons include HEARING SINGING PLAYING and CREATING
This course is taught by a YAMAHA Certified and Trained teacher.

Young Musician's Course ( YMC ) Ages 6 -8 The classes are one hour per week. Students will be involved in Singing Ear Training Repertoire Ensemble Playing Keyboard Harmony Arranging Keyboard Technique Sight Singing / Sight Playing and Theory

Keyboard Encounter Kids (KEK) ages 7 -10 Classes are one hour per week.
It's a fun group!!! There are 4 textbooks with exciting music. Features a wide variety of musical activities. Kids begin playing the first day!!! Classes feature music reading, ensemble playing and singing - with an emphasis on having fun!

Keyboard Encounter Teens 11 years and older Classes meet one hour per week in a group setting. Classes are grouped according to age and musical background. Students play from the very first day!!!

Keyboard Encounter Adults Classes meet one hour per week. Yes...You are never too old to learn...have a great time in a group setting....songs in all styles that you've always dreamed of playing.

Instructors

Donna Benson

Donna Benson has a passion for bringing the joy of music into children's lives. She has taught piano for the past 18 years and directed children's choirs for 20 years. She has a Bachelors of Music Education from San Diego State University and is also certified in the Kodaly Method of Music Education. In addition to the piano, she plays the organ and flute. She has been a church musician for as long as she can remember... and is currently organist/choir director at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Escondido. Donna has 2 daughters, and 2 grandchildren in Rancho Bernardo.

Bronwyn LeBlanc-Kinne

Bronwyn LeBlanc-Kinne has been involved with music her whole life. After learning how to sing many of the songs from her favorite composers, Mozart and Stevie Nicks, her parents decided to enroll her into Yamaha classes at age 4. From elementary school to college, she has sung or played with various performing groups including: honor choirs, jazz choir, San Diego State University (SDSU) Wind Symphony, SDSU Percussion Ensemble, Mesa College Jazz Ensemble, and SDSU Clarinet Choir. She graduated magna cum laude from SDSU with a double-major of Music and Spanish. Currently, she is preparing for graduate studies in Music Theory and Piano Pedagogy.

Lana Markman

Lana Markman graduated from a Russian Music Academy with a Bachelor's degree in piano performance/teaching and a Master's degree in choir conducting.

In 1995, Lana moved from Russia to New Orleans, LA where she began teaching piano and music theory at the University of New Orleans and accompanying for ballet and opera classes at Loyola University.

In 1996, she moved to San Diego, CA to teach piano, theory, voice and choir classes at the California Institute of Music (formerly known as the Fairbanks School of Music). In 2005, Lana started directing musical productions for the CIM which turned out to be extremely popular with children and parents.

Throughout her career with the CIM, Lana continued working with private students many of who successfully participated in various piano and voice competitions. A number of Lana's students were awarded California Music Teachers' Association Certificates of Merit at different levels.

In 2006, Lana started teaching Russian folk singing at the San Diego State University Ethnomusicology Department.

In 2009, she became a member of the Yamaha Music Education System in San Marcos, CA.
